BJP Mulls Solo Run in Maharashtra Local Elections
The political alliance in Maharashtra, called Mahayuti, is having trouble agreeing on who gets to run for local government seats in big cities like Mumbai, Thane, and Pune.
The BJP might run on its own because the other parties want too many seats.
One party, Shiv Sena, wants a lot of seats in Mumbai.
Another party, NCP, wants a big share in Pune.
Because of these disagreements, the BJP is considering running its own candidates.
The Supreme Court has said that the elections should happen soon.
BJP is considering contesting the upcoming municipal elections independently in Mumbai, Thane, and Pune.
The shift follows disputes over seat-sharing within the Mahayuti alliance, including Shiv Sena and NCP.
Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena) has requested a significant share of seats in Mumbai.
Ajit Pawar's NCP is also demanding a large number of seats in Pune.
Amit Shah has advised the BJP to prepare for independent contests in the key cities.
