India's Infrastructure Push Drives Economic Growth
In December 2024, India's eight key industries, like coal, steel, and electricity, grew by 3.7%.
This is the biggest growth since August.
Cement and steel did really well, but oil and gas production shrank.
The government is trying to build more infrastructure and use cleaner energy to help the economy grow.
This growth is important because these industries make up a big part of India's overall industrial production.
Additionally, Indian states have been spending a lot of money on building roads, railways, power plants, and other important things over the past five years.
This spending helps create jobs and makes the economy stronger.
India's eight core infrastructure industries grew by 3.7% year-on-year in December 2024, the highest growth rate since August.
Cement output rose by 13.5%, the highest among the eight industries, supported by construction and infrastructure activity.
Steel production increased by 6.9% and electricity generation expanded by 5.3%, reflecting steady demand.
Crude oil output declined by 5.6%, natural gas production fell by 4.4%, and refinery products output slipped by 1.0%.
The eight core industries together account for 40.27% of the weight of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP).
