NIA Chargesheets Nine Over ISIS Online Radicalisation Plot
India’s National Investigation Agency has filed a formal case against nine people who it says supported ISIS.
The agency alleges that they used Instagram and other social media to influence young people.
It says the group wanted to support ISIS activities in India.
The NIA also says the group aimed to establish a caliphate through violence.
Investigators allege that some members planned to make explosives and receive weapons training.
They also allegedly created a secret application for communicating with one another.
The case began at a police station in Vijayawada on March 23, 2026.
The accusations will be considered under India’s terrorism and criminal laws.
The National Investigation Agency has chargesheeted nine alleged ISIS members and supporters before a special court in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
The NIA alleges that Instagram and other social media platforms were used to radicalise young people and promote ISIS ideology.
Investigators say the accused supported a broader conspiracy seeking to establish a caliphate in India through violent jihad.
The agency alleges the group planned explosives preparation, weapons training and the development of a secure communication application.
The case was registered on March 23, 2026, and 11 accused people plus a child in conflict with law have been apprehended so far.
