Ladakh's New Job Policies: Explained
Imagine Ladakh as a special place, and the government made new rules to help the people who live there.
These rules are about jobs and who can get them.
Now, people from Ladakh get a big chunk of government jobs, about 85%.
To get these jobs, you usually have to have lived there for at least 15 years.
The government also decided which languages people will use.
Some people were worried about outsiders taking over, so these new rules are meant to protect the local people and make sure they have a fair chance.
New regulations for Ladakh define job reservations, language policies, and domicile requirements.
85% reservation for resident Ladakhis in government jobs is now in place.
Non-local residents need a 15-year continuous stay to be considered domiciles.
Total government job reservation in Ladakh is now 95%, including Economically Weaker Sections.
The policies address concerns of land and employment protection for locals.
