Madras HC Refuses to Restrain Designer from Using Hashtag
The Madras High Court recently decided not to stop a costume designer named Joy Crizildaa from using the hashtag 'Madhampatty Pakashala' on her social media posts.
A catering company, Madhampatty Thangavelu Hospitality Private Limited, had asked the court to prevent her from using the hashtag, claiming that her posts were hurting their business and reputation.
The company said that Crizildaa was making false claims about being married to one of their directors and that her posts were causing them to lose contracts worth a lot of money.
However, the court did not agree to stop her from using the hashtag and will now hear the full case to decide who is right.
Crizildaa's lawyer argued that the company's claims were not true and that she should be allowed to post what she wants.
The Madras High Court refused to restrain Joy Crizildaa from using the 'Madhampatty Pakashala' hashtag on social media.
Madhampatty Thangavelu Hospitality Private Limited alleged that her posts were defamatory and harming their business.
The company claimed that her posts led to the cancellation of catering contracts worth several crores of rupees.
Crizildaa's lawyer disputed the allegations and filed a counter affidavit.
The court will now proceed with the civil suit to decide the merits of the case.
