YSRCP Gathers 1 Crore Signatures Against Medical College Privatisation
The YSRCP party in Andhra Pradesh is very upset about a plan to give control of ten new government medical colleges to private companies.
Their leader, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, collected one crore signatures from people who also don't like this idea.
He will give these signatures to the state's governor to show how many people are against it.
Another important person in the party, Botcha Satyanarayana, said that the current government is making a mistake by putting business interests first instead of helping regular people.
He reminded everyone that the previous government started building these medical colleges to help everyone, especially poor people, get good medical care.
The party is now collecting all the signatures they gathered from different parts of the state to show how strong the opposition is.
Former minister Ambati Rambabu said the signature campaign received a tremendous response from the public.
He warned that if the government goes ahead with the privatisation, the YSRCP will reverse it after coming back to power.
Noori Fatima, the YSRCP In-charge, said people across the state are strongly condemning the move to privatise government medical colleges and their struggle will not stop until the government withdraws its plans.
YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will meet Governor S Abdul Nazeer on December 18 to submit 1 crore signatures against the privatisation of ten new government medical colleges.
The party claims widespread public opposition to the privatisation move, alleging it prioritises corporate interests over public welfare.
Former minister Botcha Satyanarayana criticised the NDA coalition government for attempting to hand over the medical colleges under a PPP model.
The YSRCP government between 2019 and 2024 initiated 17 medical colleges, completing seven, with admissions already underway in five before the current government took power.
The party is collecting signature boxes from across the state to formalise the opposition to the privatisation.
