Maharashtra Strengthens Fight Against Bonded Labour
The Maharashtra government has taken strong steps to stop child labour.
They said if someone gives money to a child's family to make them work, it's considered bonded labour.
Each district will have a special team to find and help these children.
If someone is caught making children work, they will be punished and have to pay a fine.
The money from the fine will be used to help the children.
The government also made a new group to oversee these rules and make sure they are followed.
Maharashtra government issued directives to strengthen the fight against bonded labour, especially involving children.
Financial inducements linked to child labour will now be treated as bonded labour.
A separate child labour unit will be created in every district collectorate to handle inspections and rescue operations.
District-level committees have been merged into a single action committee headed by the district collector.
Employers violating child labour laws will face criminal prosecution and a fine of Rs 20,000 per child labourer.
