Asteroid 2003 MH4: A Near Earth Flyby in 2025
Imagine a big space rock, like three football fields long, is zooming through space.
This rock, called Asteroid 2003 MH4, is going to pass close to Earth in 2025.
It's traveling really fast!
While it won't hit us, it's close enough that scientists are keeping a close eye on it.
If something that big did hit Earth, it could cause a lot of damage, like many explosions all at once!
That's why we have teams of people who watch for space rocks like this one, to keep us safe.
Asteroid 2003 MH4, about 335 meters in diameter, will pass near Earth on May 24, 2025.
The asteroid is traveling at 14 kilometers per second.
It will pass 6.68 million kilometers from Earth, about 17 times closer than the moon.
The asteroid is classified as a Potentially Hazardous Asteroid (PHA) by NASA.
A potential impact could release energy equivalent to 1,000 nuclear bombs.
