Study Urges Earlier NHS Checks for South Asian Women

Study Urges Earlier NHS Checks for South Asian Women

A new study found that women and young people of South Asian heritage in the UK have a higher chance of developing multiple long-term health conditions, like heart disease and mental health issues, at a younger age.

The study suggests that the NHS should start health checks earlier, in their 20s and 30s, to catch these problems early.

The researchers found that South Asian women are more likely to develop mental health conditions first, while men face a higher risk of serious heart or kidney events.

The study also found that people living in poorer areas and those with a higher genetic risk are more likely to develop these combined illnesses.

The researchers suggest that lifestyle factors, like diet and stress, should be included in health checks to help prevent these conditions.
