Govt Launches Drive to Clear National Highway Encroachments
The government has started a big project to clean up National Highways.
They want to remove all the people or things that are using the highways without permission.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is leading this project.
They will use special tools like drones and an app to find these unauthorised occupations.
The government will follow the rules and laws to remove them, and they might ask for help from local authorities and police if needed.
This project is important because it helps keep the highways safe and clear for everyone to use.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has launched a special drive to identify and remove unauthorised occupations on National Highways.
Regional officers are directed to inspect and survey the entire length of National Highways under their jurisdiction.
Unauthorised occupations will be identified using tools like DAMS, Rajmargyatra app, and media analysis reports.
Removal of unauthorised occupations will be done in accordance with the Control of National Highways (Land and Traffic) Act, 2002, Highway Administration Rules, 2004, and SOP dated August 7, 2025.
The ministry has created a separate module on the Rajmargyatra App for capturing complaints and instructed the development of the Drone Analysis Management System (DAMS).
