Gujarat University in Alzheimer’s Breakthrough
Scientists from Gujarat Biotechnology University and other institutes have found a new way to treat Alzheimer’s disease using tiny particles called nanoparticles.
These particles help by stopping harmful protein clumps in the brain, protecting brain cells, and reducing inflammation.
The researchers made these nanoparticles from natural substances like green tea and brain chemicals.
They also added a protein that helps brain cells grow.
In tests, these nanoparticles helped brain cells survive much better and improved memory and learning in animals.
This research gives hope for better treatments for Alzheimer’s in the future.
Researchers from INST, NIPER, and GBU developed a nanoparticle-based treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.
The treatment targets toxic protein accumulation, neuronal damage, inflammation, and brain repair.
Nanoparticles made from EGCG, Dopamine, Tryptophan, and BDNF improved cell survival from 40–50% to 90%.
Animal studies showed reduced brain inflammation, improved memory, and behavior.
Prof Nisha Singh led the research, demonstrating women’s empowerment in science.
