Kolkata Schools Close Early Due to CM Mamata Banerjee's Rally, Traffic Concerns
Imagine there's a big parade happening in town today, led by the main leader.
Because so many people will be marching and roads will be busy, some schools decided it's best for kids to go home a little earlier.
They don't want the children to get stuck in traffic jams.
Some schools are letting students leave around lunchtime.
However, other schools are staying open as usual because changing their schedule can be difficult, and they have tests planned for some students.
The police are trying to manage the traffic so cars can keep moving.
Several Kolkata schools announced early dispersal today due to an anticipated traffic jam from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's rally.
The rally is scheduled to begin at 2 PM from the Ambedkar statue on Red Road and end at Jorasanko Thakurbari.
Schools like La Martiniere, St James', Pratt Memorial, and Welland Gouldsmith will close around noon, with some starting student dispersal as early as 10:30 AM.
The early closure aims to ensure students reach home safely before the rally causes significant traffic congestion along its 4.1 km route.
Some schools will maintain their regular schedules, making accommodations for students with scheduled tests like unit exams.
