India to Open PM-JAY Records for Secure Health Research

India to Open PM-JAY Records for Secure Health Research

India’s National Health Authority has collected more than 13 crore records from a government health program.

It plans to let researchers study these records in a secure system.

The system is meant to hide patients’ personal information.

Researchers could use the information to learn more about healthcare and improve services.

The authority is also using computers to check some insurance claims.

These checks look for claims that may need closer review.

About 30% of claims now go through this automated process.

The Indian Council of Medical Research has created more than 150 treatment workflows for hospitals.

These workflows are intended to make treatment more consistent for patients.
