BJP bandh over police action hits normal life in Jharkhand

BJP bandh over police action hits normal life in Jharkhand

Some young people in a place called Jharkhand, in India, wanted to get government jobs.

They took a test, but they believed the test was not fair.

So they walked together to the state assembly building to ask for help.

Police stopped them with water cannons, tear gas and sticks, and some people got hurt.

The next day, a big political party called the BJP told shops, schools and roads to shut down in protest.

People blocked roads and burnt tyres, and many schools and businesses stayed closed.

The party's leader said the ruling politicians should say sorry and give up their jobs.

He also asked for an independent investigation into the test.

The police said they kept things calm and that some officers were hurt too.

Everyone is hoping the students and the government can solve the problem peacefully.
