Yash’s Mother Defends His Pre-KGF Stardom Amid Toxic Backlash
Yash became very famous across India after the movie KGF.
His mother says he was already a successful Kannada actor before KGF.
She says he had five hit movies and worked hard without a film-industry family background.
Yash’s father was a bus driver.
Producer Allu Aravind had earlier asked who Yash was before KGF.
Aravind also said KGF’s large scale and spectacular production helped make it successful.
Yash said many people, not just one actor, work to make a movie succeed.
The old comment became popular again after Yash’s newer movie Toxic received mixed or mostly negative reactions.
Toxic still reportedly earned more than Rs 200 crore net in India after five days.
Yash’s mother, Pushpa Arunkumar, defended his career before KGF, saying he had five consecutive Kannada-film hits.
She criticized Allu Aravind’s 2023 question, “Who was Yash before KGF?”, and described Yash as the son of a bus driver who rose independently.
Aravind argued that KGF’s grand scale, production value and visual spectacle—not just Yash’s stardom—helped make it a blockbuster.
Yash said films succeed through the combined efforts of actors, writers, supporting performers and crew, while acknowledging the actor must carry the material.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups received mixed-to-largely negative reactions; reports said it earned Rs 214 crore net in India and Rs 255.95 crore gross after five days.
