Kaziranga National Park Survey Reveals 70 Orchid Species
Imagine a park famous for rhinos, but it also has a secret: lots of beautiful orchids!
Scientists recently found 70 different types of orchids in Kaziranga National Park.
Some grow on trees, others in the soil.
They found rare ones like the Eulophia kamarupa, which is only found in India.
To help people learn about these flowers, the park held a special event called the 'Orchid and Butterfly Walk' for students.
This discovery shows that the park is not only about big animals, but also about the amazing plants and flowers that grow there.
A recent survey documented 70 orchid species in Kaziranga National Park.
The survey included both central and western ranges of the park.
Panbari Reserve Forest was a notable hotspot, with 39 species.
46 of the species are epiphytes; 24 are terrestrial.
An "Orchid and Butterfly Walk" was held to raise awareness.
