Major Navya Shekhawat Becomes Army’s First Woman Presidential ADC

Major Navya Shekhawat has been chosen to serve as an aide-de-camp, or ADC, to the President of India.

An ADC is an officer who helps and accompanies an important leader.

She is the first woman from the Indian Army to receive this appointment.

The President usually has five ADCs.

Three come from the Army, one comes from the Navy, and one comes from the Air Force.

A Navy officer named Lieutenant Commander Yashasvi Solanki became the first woman President’s ADC in May 2025.

Major Shekhawat is therefore the second woman overall to serve in the position.

Her appointment is being described as a significant milestone for women in the Indian Army.
