KCR to appear before SIT in phone tapping case
There is a disagreement between the former Chief Minister of Telangana, KCR, and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) about where and when KCR should be questioned in a phone tapping case.
The SIT wants to question KCR at his official residence in Hyderabad on February 1 at 3 pm, but KCR wanted to be questioned at his farmhouse in Erravalli.
The SIT says they cannot question KCR at his farmhouse because it is not his official residence and it would be difficult to transport sensitive records there.
KCR has also asked to be questioned at a later date due to upcoming elections.
The case involves the alleged tapping of phones by the Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) under the former Chief Minister's government, and evidence suggests that at least 600 phone numbers tapped were not related to Left-wing extremism.
KCR has agreed to appear before the SIT at his official residence on February 1 at 3 pm, despite his earlier requests.
The BRS leaders have accused the government of harassing KCR under the pretext of investigating the phone tapping case.
