78-Year-Old Beats Aggressive Breast Cancer with Cryoablation

Chanderkala Lohani, a 78-year-old woman, was diagnosed with a very aggressive type of breast cancer called triple-negative breast cancer.

This type of cancer is hard to treat because it doesn't respond to common treatments like hormone therapy.

Lohani also had a heart condition that made surgery and other treatments too risky.

Doctors first tried to remove the cancer with a small surgery using local anesthesia.

When the cancer came back, they used a new treatment called cryoablation.

This treatment freezes the cancer cells, destroying them without the need for big surgery.

The treatment was successful, and Lohani's tumor was completely destroyed.

Cryoablation is a good option for people who can't have regular surgery, but it's not yet the standard treatment for everyone.

It's also more expensive than regular surgery and usually not covered by insurance.
