Iran’s Pezeshkian Urges US to Revive June Truce Before Midterms

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian wants the United States to restore a previous agreement with Iran.

That agreement was signed in Islamabad in June.

It was meant to stop fighting and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Pezeshkian said he wants progress before America’s November elections.

He said Iran’s nuclear program is for peaceful uses such as medicine and agriculture.

He also said Iran could allow inspectors back if the United States keeps its promises.

Pezeshkian blamed the United States and Israel for attacks and civilian deaths.

American officials said any new agreement would require serious negotiations.

President Donald Trump warned that Iran could face severe consequences if an agreement is not reached quickly.
