AIIMS-Patna Eye Bank Receives First Cornea Donation
Imagine your eye has a window that helps you see.
Sometimes, this window, called the cornea, gets damaged, making it hard to see.
Now, a new eye bank at AIIMS-Patna has opened to help people with damaged corneas.
They collect healthy corneas from donors and use them to help those who can't see well.
The first cornea donation came from a generous 64-year-old man.
This is great news because there aren't enough healthy corneas available.
The eye bank can now store the corneas for a short time and will start helping people see again by performing transplants.
The team is very happy to provide this service.
AIIMS-Patna's eye bank received its first cornea donation.
