Bhopal to Supply Water to Manufacturing Cluster, Raising Concerns
Bhopal is going to send a lot of water every day to a new factory area called the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster.
This water comes from the Upper Lake, which is where many people in Bhopal get their water.
Some people worry that taking more water from the lake could cause problems, like not having enough water for everyone.
To help, they are making the water treatment plant bigger so it can make more water.
The new factory area is part of a plan to make more electronics in India.
The factory project is planned to cost a lot of money and the water supply is an important part of making the factories work.
Bhopal will supply 2 million litres of water daily from the Upper Lake to the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC).
A 38-kilometer pipeline will be constructed to transport water to Bandikhedi village.
The Manuabhan Tekri Filter Plant is being upgraded by 10 MLD.
The EMC project, costing Rs 371.95 crore, is part of the Digital India and Make in India initiatives.
Concerns exist over the additional water extraction from the Upper Lake.
