NDSA Meeting Focuses on Barrage Repairs, Not Pumping
A group of people from the Telangana state government met with a national dam safety team in New Delhi.
They talked about how to fix three big water barriers called Annaram, Sundilla, and Medigadda.
The meeting was about fixing the barriers, not about using them to move water to a place called Yellampalli reservoir.
The state officials said the tests they did were important to know how the barriers work.
They will meet again in a month to look at the detailed plans for fixing the barriers.
NDSA technical oversight committee met with Telangana irrigation officials in New Delhi on Friday.
The committee did not discuss using Annaram and Sundilla barrages to pump water to Yellampalli reservoir.
Opposition parties had repeatedly demanded the use of these barrages for the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme.
The meeting focused on test results and planning repair designs for Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages.
A follow‑up meeting is scheduled in a month to review detailed repair drawings.
