Four arrested in Manipur for extortion, recruitment in banned outfits
In Manipur, four people were caught by the police.
They are part of groups that the government has banned.
The police think these people were asking for money in a bad way and trying to get new members for their groups.
This happened in a place called Imphal East.
The police have been looking for people like this since there was a big fight between two groups of people in Manipur last year.
Many people got hurt or lost their homes in that fight.
Right now, the government is running Manipur directly because of all the problems.
Four persons were arrested in Manipur for alleged extortion and recruitment activities for banned outfits.
The arrested individuals are members of the NRFM, UNLF, and KCP (Noyon faction).
Arrests took place in the Imphal East district over the weekend.
Police have been conducting search operations since the ethnic violence broke out in May 2023.
At least 260 people have been killed and thousands displaced in the ethnic strife.
