Fran Drescher to Step Down as SAG-AFTRA President
Fran Drescher, who leads the actors' union SAG-AFTRA, won't be running for president again.
The union had a big strike last year.
Now, other people want the job, like Sean Astin and Chuck Slavin.
Members of the union will vote soon, with ballots coming in August and due in September.
Drescher became president in 2021.
The union will also be talking to the people who make movies and TV shows next year to make new agreements, especially about how new technology like AI affects them.
Fran Drescher will not seek re-election as SAG-AFTRA President.
Sean Astin and Chuck Slavin are candidates for the presidency.
Drescher took office in 2021 and was re-elected in 2023.
Ballots will be sent to members on August 13th and must be returned by September 12th.
