Adani Boosts Bangladesh Electricity Supply Amid Shortages
Adani Power, a big company in India, is sending more electricity to Bangladesh.
Even though the two countries are having some problems with their relationship, they are still trading electricity.
Bangladesh needs more power because they don't have enough natural gas, which is their main source of energy.
Adani's electricity is cheaper than using oil-fired power plants, so Bangladesh is buying more from them.
They are also importing more coal to make up for the gas shortages.
This helps Bangladesh meet its growing need for electricity.
Adani Power increased electricity exports to Bangladesh by 38% annually to 2.25 billion kWh.
Indian electricity now makes up 15.6% of Bangladesh's power mix, up from 12% in 2024.
Bangladesh is facing gas shortages and plans to boost coal imports by 35% to 17.34 million metric tons.
Gas-fired generation in Bangladesh dropped to 42.6% of the energy mix from two-thirds previously.
Adani supplied 8.2% of Bangladesh's total electricity in 2025, with imports from other Indian companies rising marginally.
