Mumbai CNG Price Hits ₹89 After ₹8 Increase Since April
CNG is a fuel used by many autos and taxis in Mumbai.
Its price went up by ₹1 per kilogram on October 1.
The price is now ₹89 per kilogram.
Since April, the price has increased by ₹8 per kilogram.
Mahanagar Gas Limited said gas has become more expensive to source.
Auto and taxi drivers now have higher costs to run their vehicles.
An auto union said the latest hike adds to these costs.
If costs rise much more, the union may ask for higher fares.
This could eventually make rides more expensive for passengers.
Mumbai CNG prices rose by ₹1 per kg on October 1, reaching ₹89 per kg.
The latest increase was the fifth CNG price revision in Mumbai this year.
Mahanagar Gas Limited attributed the hike to higher input gas costs, including imported RLNG.
The cumulative ₹8 per kg increase since April is raising operating costs for autos and taxis.
An auto union said further increases could lead it to seek a fare revision within six months.
