Kolkata Road Repairs Miss Deadline as Showers Disrupt Work
Kolkata’s city government planned to fix potholes on many important roads by October 5.
Some roads were still not finished when that date passed.
City engineers said sudden rain made the work harder and damaged some repairs.
They expect to finish the remaining work in a few days.
Minister Agnimitra Paul said the roads would be repaired before Mahalaya.

The civic body had set October 5 to complete pothole repairs on 76 key thoroughfares; by Saturday, 21 had been fully repaired.
Engineers said localised showers disrupted work and damaged some repairs on EM Bypass and AJC Bose Road, requiring bituminous hot-mix repairs.
Urban development minister Agnimitra Paul said outstanding repairs would be completed before Mahalaya and cited Ecofix as an option for wet surfaces.
The KMC plans to keep 13 pothole-repairing machines and its hot-mix plant operating until October 14; senior civic officials were also transferred.
