FDA Suspends Licences of 12 Pune Establishments Over Hygiene Violations

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Maharashtra has suspended the licences of 12 hotels, restaurants, and bakeries in Pune and Satara districts.

This action was taken after inspections on July 18 and 21 revealed serious violations of food safety and hygiene rules.

The FDA found unhygienic kitchens, expired food items, poor food-handling practices, and violations of sanitation standards.

Ten of these establishments are in Pune district, and two are in Satara district.

The FDA has also seized banned food items worth ₹3.48 lakh from three other establishments and arrested five people.

The FDA has appealed to the public to report any complaints related to food quality or hygiene.

Additionally, the licence of the canteen at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters in Mumbai was suspended due to repeated complaints about unhygienic conditions.
