Nepal Press Council Examines Controversial ICU Interviews With Flood Survivors

Nepal’s Press Council is looking into a video interview filmed inside a hospital ICU.

The interview involved people who survived severe floods.

They had been rescued after spending 10 days at the Trishuli III ‘A’ Hydropower Project site.

YouTuber and journalist Suraj Singh Thakuri conducted the interview with a camera team.

The video was published by “Inside the Bunker.”

Some people criticized the interview in local media and online.

Officials are checking whether the interview followed journalism rules.

They are also checking whether the YouTuber had valid press accreditation.

The floods began after an ice-rock avalanche near the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26.

Around 1,400 people were killed and more than 5,000 remained missing, according to the reports.
