Sujeet’s Asian Games Gold Path Leads Through Japan
Sujeet Kalkal is an Indian wrestler competing in the 65-kilogram category.
He has had a very successful year and won the Asian Championships.
The wrestler many people expected him to face, Rahman Amouzad, will not compete at the Asian Games.
However, Sujeet may still have to beat Japan’s Olympic champion, Kotaro Kiyooka.
Kiyooka already defeated Amouzad in the Olympic final.
The Asian Games will take place in Japan, so Kiyooka will have the support of his home crowd.
Sujeet is known for using speed and technical moves.
Winning gold would show how far he has progressed in Indian wrestling.
Sujeet Kalkal’s main expected rival, Iranian world champion Rahman Amouzad, is absent from the Asian Games entry list.
Japan’s Olympic champion Kotaro Kiyooka now appears to be Sujeet’s biggest obstacle at 65kg.
Kiyooka defeated Amouzad 10-3 in the Paris Olympic final and will compete before his home crowd.
Sujeet won the Asian title after earlier gold medals at the Zagreb Open and Muhamet Malo Ranking Series.
Other serious contenders include Uzbekistan’s Umidjon Jalolov, Kazakhstan’s Nachyn Kuular and Iran’s Abbas Ebrahimzadeh.
