Cultural Calendar: Papon Concert, Gandhi Archive, Northeast Films and Kathak
This week has lots of fun cultural things to see and hear.
Singer Papon is giving a concert in Delhi.
He sings folk songs and Bollywood hits.
In Mumbai, an auction house is showing letters and objects from Mahatma Gandhi's life.
These things were kept safe by a family for many years.
In Delhi, there will be short films about northeastern India.
The films show forests, animals and traditions like honey-hunting in Nagaland.
A band called Indian Ocean will play music in Bengaluru.
Their songs mix rock, folk and classical music.
A dancer named Amruta Paranjape will perform Kathak, a dance that uses rhythm, movement and storytelling.
Papon performs live at Yashobhoomi in Delhi on August 16 at 7 pm, blending folk, Bollywood hits and soulful melodies.
Saffronart's archive of 86 artefacts, preserved by the Hingorani family, offers a personal portrait of Gandhi in Mumbai until August 19.
Short films on northeast India's forests, wildlife and indigenous traditions, including Sikkim's Lepcha seed keepers and Nagaland's honey-hunting practices, screen in Delhi on August 18.
Indian Ocean plays classics like Kandisa Bandeh and Ma Rewa at DND Bellandur in Bengaluru on August 16 at 8 pm.
