10,000-Year-Old Rock Art and Caves Found at Indrapalanagaram

10,000-Year-Old Rock Art and Caves Found at Indrapalanagaram

People who study very old things found very old caves and rock paintings in a place called Indrapalanagaram in India.

The caves could be about 10,000 years old.

That is much older than anything your grandparents would remember!

The paintings are faded red drawings on a large rock, about 15 feet above the ground.

They were found along the path that leads to the Yellamma temple.

The people who found them think the paintings may come from a very old time called the Kakatiya era.

Workers also found stone tools, pottery pieces, beads and even ivory bangles while digging for a government job scheme.

A man named Ratnakar Reddy led the team that found the caves.

He is worried that digging might destroy old treasures because people do not know they are there.

He asked the heritage department to protect the paintings and dig carefully so the history is not lost.
