SSC Adopts New Score Normalization Method for Exams
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is changing how it adjusts exam scores to make sure everyone is graded fairly.
Because exam difficulty can vary from shift to shift, the SSC normalizes scores.
The old method looked at things like average scores in each shift.
The new method, called the equipercentile method, focuses on each person's rank in their own shift.
If a candidate performed better than 80% of the people in their shift, their score will be compared to the performance of a candidate in another shift who also scored better than 80% of their group.
This helps ensure that candidates in tougher shifts aren't unfairly penalized, providing a fairer comparison.
SSC is implementing a new score normalization method for recruitment exams.
The new method is called the equipercentile method.
The new method considers the ranks or percentiles of candidates within each shift.
The goal is to provide a fair way to compare scores across different shifts.
The details of the new method were published on June 2.
