Pakistan Suspends Imran Khan’s Provincial Government Amid Militancy Concerns

Pakistan’s president declared an emergency and suspended the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The province’s governor will lead it with help from an advisory council, at first for six months.

The federal government says the provincial authorities have not done enough to stop militant attacks.

Imran Khan’s party disagrees and says it did not receive enough money and equipment.

The decision came as Khan’s supporters planned protests calling for his release.

Authorities blocked roads and detained some party members and activists.

Khan’s party says the emergency is unfair and could make the situation worse.

The government says the province faces a serious security problem.
