Supreme Court Calls for Pellet Gun Protocol, Not Ban
The Supreme Court in India is looking at a request to stop using metal pellet guns in protests.
The people who asked for the ban say that the guns hurt them during a big protest on July 20.
The judges said they want to make rules about how the guns can be used instead of banning them completely.
They also told the government to give medical help to anyone hurt by the guns and to keep records of the ammunition used.
The judges said the police can use pellet guns only in special situations, and they will check if the use in this protest was allowed.
The court will look at each case to see if the rules were followed.
Supreme Court heard petition to ban metallic pellet guns used in July 20 protest.
Bench suggested focusing on protocol rather than outright ban.
Court directed Delhi government to provide medical care and preserve RAF ammunition logs.
Petitioners claim injuries from metallic pellets fired by Rapid Action Force.
