Kashmir Moves 150 Bangladeshis for Deportation After Probe
Officials said a survey found about 600 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly living illegally in Jammu and Kashmir.
They said 150 people were moved to West Bengal on Monday as part of deportation proceedings.
The group had been kept in a camp run by Srinagar Police.
Officials said the group flew to Bagdogra on a special Indian Air Force plane and was handed to the Border Security Force.
A police officer said a mismatch in Aadhaar data led to checks and that Bangladesh confirmed the group’s nationality.
Police said the process was carried out under the Foreigners Act.
Another group of 150 was expected to be deported on 7 October.
Reports differ on whether the first group had already crossed the border or was still being transported for a final pushback.
