India Eases SEZ Rules to Boost Semiconductor Manufacturing
The Indian government is making it easier to build factories for semiconductors and electronics.
They changed the rules for Special Economic Zones (SEZs), which are special areas for businesses.
Now, companies need less land to set up these factories; it's 10 hectares instead of 50.
This change helps companies that make things like computer parts and phone components.
The government also allows some flexibility with the land rules to encourage more businesses to join the SEZ.
India relaxed land area requirements for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) manufacturing semiconductors and electronic components.
The minimum contiguous land area for such SEZs is now ten hectares.
Previously, the minimum contiguous land area was fifty hectares.
Electronic components include modules, circuit boards, and hardware.
The Board of Approval can relax encumbrance-free area conditions.
