Bombay High Court Threatens BMC Chief's Salary Over Pollution
The Bombay High Court is very upset with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for not doing enough to control pollution.
The court said that if the BMC doesn't make more effort, they might stop the salary of the BMC chief.
This is because the court thinks the BMC hasn't been trying hard enough to make the city cleaner.
However, the BMC has started working on diverting sewage from Powai Lake to stop pollution.
They have a plan to finish this by May 2026.
The court might also do the same thing to the Navi Mumbai commissioner if they don't see any improvement.
The BMC has begun work on diverting sewage from Powai Lake and committed to a May 2026 deadline to stop the inflow of raw sewage into the lake.
