Microsoft to Launch Xbox Handheld with Custom AMD Chip
Microsoft is developing a handheld gaming console, separate from existing Xbox-branded devices.
The console is expected to feature a custom-designed, low-power processor from AMD.
Asus is also preparing to release an Xbox-branded handheld, the ROG Ally 2, with options of AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme or a less powerful APU.
Both Asus models are expected to have a 7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
If Microsoft successfully implements AMD’s custom APU, the Xbox handheld may offer improved backwards compatibility and broader title support.
