Lalit Modi Wins IPL 2009 Case, Plans India Visit
Lalit Modi, who used to be the chairman of the IPL, has won a big legal case.
A tribunal said that the money transactions he made for the IPL in 2009 were okay and that he wasn't responsible for following certain rules.
Modi is happy because he has been fighting this case for 16 years.
He said he will visit India soon to see his family and friends.
He lives in London but loves India very much.
The case was about moving the IPL to South Africa in 2009 because of elections in India.
The government agency said Modi broke some money rules, but the tribunal disagreed.
Lalit Modi plans to visit India by the end of 2024 or early 2025 after winning a legal case.
The Appellate Tribunal ruled that foreign remittances for IPL 2009 were current account transactions not requiring RBI approval.
Modi was cleared of responsibility for BCCI's compliance with FEMA.
Modi has been living in London since 2010 and will continue to reside there.
