India, China Agree on Eight-Point Roadmap for Border Management

India, China Agree on Eight-Point Roadmap for Border Management

India and China disagree about where parts of their Himalayan border should be.

Their senior officials met in Beijing for the 25th round of border talks.

They agreed on eight steps to help keep the border peaceful and improve communication.

Two new military meeting points and two hotlines will give officials more ways to talk during tense moments.

Two technical groups will work on boundary lines and border management.

The countries still want a final border agreement that both sides consider fair and acceptable.

They also agreed to support border trade and Indian pilgrimages to Kailash-Manasarovar.

More talks about shared rivers are planned for September, while the next senior border meeting is planned in India in 2027.
