Major E-commerce Platforms Commit to Anti-Dark Pattern Compliance
Big online shopping sites like Flipkart, Meesho, Zomato, and Ajio have promised to stop tricks that make you buy things you didn't mean to.
The government is happy about this and wants other sites to do the same.
They're watching to make sure no one cheats customers.
26 leading e-commerce and quick commerce platforms, including Flipkart, Meesho, Zomato, and Ajio, have submitted self-declarations complying with India's anti-dark patterns regulations
These platforms claim to have carried out internal or third-party audits and are free of manipulative or deceptive user interface practices
The move aligns with the Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns, 2023
Dark patterns are intentionally designed practices to manipulate customers into taking actions they did not sign up for
The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) urges other platforms to follow suit and warns of enforcement action against violations
