Ancient Jain Caves in Anantagiri Face Neglect
Imagine some old caves, like ancient apartments, that were used long ago by people who followed Jainism.
These caves are in Anantagiri and are very old, dating back to the 9th century.
Now, some of these caves are not being taken care of properly, and some have even been damaged.
An archaeologist named Dr. Sivanagireddy visited the caves and was worried.
He wants the people in charge to help protect the caves by removing the whitewash, improving the paths, planting trees, and putting up signs to explain why they are important.
This way, these ancient caves can be kept safe for everyone to see and learn from in the future.
A cluster of 15 ancient rock-cut Jain caves in Anantagiri are in a state of neglect.
The caves date back to the 9th century CE and were used by Jain ascetics.
Six of the caves are intact, while others have been damaged.
Archaeologist Dr. E. Sivanagireddy expressed concerns about the lack of preservation.
Suggestions for preservation include removing whitewash and installing signboards.
