Presidency University Ends JEE Tie-Up
Presidency University in Kolkata has decided to stop using the JEE board for undergraduate admissions.
Instead, each department will choose students either through their own tests or based on marks from Plus-II exams.
This change comes after a decade of using the JEE board's system.
Nine departments want to conduct their own tests, while seven prefer to use Plus-II marks.
Teachers believe this will help maintain academic standards and identify bright students better.
The university's governing board will now consider this proposal.
This change is similar to how Jadavpur University and Ramakrishna Mission colleges admit students.
Presidency University will conduct its own undergraduate admissions, ending its 10-year tie-up with the JEE board.
Nine departments want to admit students through department-led tests, while seven prefer using Plus-II marks.
Teachers expressed concerns that the JEE board-led system diluted academic standards and lacked transparency.
The university's governing board will consider the proposal to change the admission process.
This change is similar to admission processes at Jadavpur University and Ramakrishna Mission colleges.
