NCERT Faces Severe Staff Shortage with 1,600 Vacant Posts
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has a big problem with not having enough workers.
Out of the 2,844 jobs they are supposed to have, only 1,219 are filled.
That means over 1,600 jobs are empty.
This includes important jobs in different groups like Group A, B, and C. Some places like the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET) and NERIE have very few workers compared to how many they need.
NCERT has been hiring temporary workers instead of permanent ones.
They hired the most temporary workers in 2022-23, which was 760.
But they didn't hire any permanent workers in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
They started hiring permanent workers again in 2022-23, but the numbers are still low.
The government says they are trying to fill the empty jobs, but it's taking a long time.
NCERT has 1,625 vacant posts out of 2,844 sanctioned positions.
Only 1,219 posts are currently filled across Group A, B, and C categories.
Significant shortfalls exist in major NCERT units like CIET and NERIE.
NCERT has relied heavily on contractual hiring, with 760 contractual staff hired in 2022-23.
Permanent recruitment has been uneven, with no appointments in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
