India Launches Survey for Direct 5G Spectrum for Private Networks
The Indian government is checking if big companies want their own private 5G networks.
These are like private Wi-Fi but use 5G.
Companies with a lot of money can ask for their own special radio waves, skipping the usual phone companies.
This lets factories and businesses have fast, private internet.
The government is also asking companies that help set up these networks if they are interested.
If the plan goes ahead, these businesses can have secure, reliable connections for things like factory automation.
It is still just a survey, and not a promise of spectrum yet, with the survey running through July.
DoT initiated a demand survey for direct 5G spectrum assignment to enterprises.
Enterprises with over ₹100 crore net worth can participate in the survey.
System integrators interested in establishing CNPNs are also eligible.
The survey aims to identify frequency bands for captive non-public networks (CNPNs).
The Saral Sanchar portal will host the demand survey from July 1 to July 31.
