Lebanon to File UN Complaint Over Israeli Wall Crossing Blue Line
Imagine there's an invisible line, called the Blue Line, that marks the border between Lebanon and Israel, drawn by the United Nations.
Recently, a wall built by Israel seems to have gone over this line and is now on Lebanese land.
The United Nations peacekeeping force, UNIFIL, has seen this and says it makes over 4,000 square meters of Lebanon's land unusable.
UNIFIL has asked Israel to remove the wall because they say it's like building on a neighbor's property without permission.
Lebanon is also planning to complain to the UN Security Council about this.
However, Israel says their wall has not crossed the Blue Line and that they are just building it to make their border stronger, which they started doing in 2022.
Lebanon will file a complaint with the UN Security Council against Israel for building a concrete wall that crosses the Blue Line into Lebanese territory.
Over 4,000 square meters of Lebanese land has become inaccessible due to the wall, according to UNIFIL.
UNIFIL has informed the Israeli army and requested the removal of the wall, stating it violates Lebanese sovereignty and UN resolution 1701.
The Israeli military denies that the wall crosses the Blue Line.
Israel states the wall construction, which began in 2022, is part of measures to reinforce its northern border.
