India Aims for Self-Reliance in Ammunition Production
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke about how India is working to make its own ammunition instead of buying it from other countries.
He opened a new factory in Nagpur that makes special bullets used by the Army and Navy.
The government wants private companies to help make at least half of India's ammunition.
India is also selling more defence products to other countries.
The minister said that wars are becoming more complicated and involve things like energy, trade, and technology.
He believes that having a strong defence industry is very important for the country.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a Medium Calibre Ammunition Manufacturing Facility in Nagpur, emphasizing India's commitment to self-reliance in ammunition production.
The private sector's role in defence manufacturing has been commended, with a target of contributing at least 50% of defence production.
India's defence exports have grown significantly, from less than Rs 1,000 crore 10 years ago to Rs 24,000 crore, with a target of Rs 50,000 crore by 2029-30.
Domestic defence production has increased from Rs 46,425 crore in 2014 to Rs 1.51 lakh crore, with the private sector contributing over Rs 33,000 crore.
Rajnath Singh highlighted the successful use of indigenously developed weapons like the Nagastra drones and the Bhargavastra Counter Drone System.
