Kavach Rollout Covers 2,569 km of India’s Rail Network

India is trying to make its trains safer by installing a system called Kavach that can stop a train automatically if the driver misses a signal.

Only a small part of the country’s trains have it right now – about 2,569 kilometres out of almost 70,000.

The system is already working on the busy routes between Delhi and Mumbai, and Delhi and Howrah.

Work is starting on many more routes, but it will take time to finish.

The government has spent a lot of money and trained many people to use Kavach, but they haven’t set a date for when it will be everywhere.
